Eudora: Error 11001, 11002 Host not Found
When attempting to check or send e-mail using Eudora Pro, you receive
one of the following error messages:
Error getting network address for "[server name]" Cause host
not found (11001)
OR
Error getting network address for "[server name]" Non-authoritative
host not found (11002)
Problem Solution There are a couple of reasons why you might be receiving
either of these error messages.
Internet Connection: First, make sure you are connected to the
Internet.
Unless you have a direct network connection, such as ResNet access Roadrunner,
or a computer in a network connection office, you must dial-in and connect
to the Internet each time you want to check or send e-mail.
To verify your Internet connection, try going to a few web pages using
a web browser, such as Netscape Navigator. If you are unable to get to
any web pages, the problem may be with your Internet connection and not
with Eudora Pro.
Eudora Settings:
Check to make sure Eudora Pro's settings are properly configured. Do the
following:
1. Open Eudora Pro.
2. Click Tools > Options. Then click on Getting Started on the left
side of the window.
3. Locate the box labeled Mail Server (Incoming) and make sure it contains
pop.kent.edu
4. Locate the box labeled Login Name and make sure it contains your kent.edu
userid, as assigned by the University. Your Userid is the first part of
your University e-mail address. If you are unsure of what Userid you have
been assigned, contact the Help Desk at 672-HELP or look
up your account information.
5. Locate the box labeled SMTP Server (Outgoing) and make sure it contains
smtp.kent.edu
6. Click OK.
After making any changes, try using Eudora Pro to check or send e-mail
again. You may need to close Eudora Pro and re-open it for any changes
to take effect. If you continue to have problems, you may contact the
Help Desk at 672-HELP.
