Configuring Macintosh Remote Access/PPP To configure your Macintosh computer or iMac for use with our Internet service, simply follow the following directions. Please note that Apple has renamed PPP as Remote Access on newer models such as the iMac, though both are set up in the same way. Locate the 'Assistants' folder on your hard drive, open it, and double-click on the Internet Setup Assistant icon.   Internet Setup Assistant Click the 'Yes' button. Click the 'Yes' button Click the right arrow button: Type KSU and click the right arrow button. If you are connecting to 28.8 modems and are using an iMac, be sure to download the file iMac v34 Only Modem Script.smi from Apple support and follow the installation instructions. Otherwise, click the right arrow button. The phone number is 330-672-2638 for an internet connection. If you only want email access you can use the number 330-672-6245. Your user ID is the on assigned you for your email account (for example, jdoe). Your password is the first 8 digits of your social security number or the password you use for your email account. When you are done, click the right arrow button. Select 'No' and click the right arrow button.   On the first line of the large box, type 131.123.1.1 and press return. On the second line of the large box, type 131.123.252.2 When you are done, click the right arrow button. Your email address in this example is: userid@kent.edu Your password is the same as your log in password. You can leave the 'greater than' symbol in the last box. When you are done, click the right arrow button. Your email account in this example is: userid@kent.edu The email host is: pop.kent.edu When you are done, click the right arrow button. Your Newsgroup Host is: usenet.kent.edu When you are done, click the right arrow button. Select the right radio button for 'No.' When you are done, click the right arrow button. Conclusion. Click the 'Go Ahead' button and your Mac will be ready for the internet.
