Mac Dial In Connection

Mac Dial In Connection for the  OS  versions 7.5 to 7.6

Set up FreePPP:

Copy the disk you get from the Helpdesk onto your hard drive/ Install

Open the FreePPP setup program by clicking on the A New Phone Icon@

Click on the GENERAL tab, click MODEM SETUP button.

Check the appropriate modem port and line type for your system.
Enter your modem init string from the modem manual, or try:
AutoDetect init string.@
Click OK

Click on the OPEN MAC TCP button or it might read Open TCP/IP
For MAC TCP
Domain Name enter:kent.edu
For IP Address enter:
131.123.252.2
131.123.1.1

If it reads Open TCP/IP
Connect should read Free PPP
Configure should read Using PPP Server
The IP Address Subnet and Router (will be supplied by server.)
Enter search domain name kent.edu
Enter name server address 131.123.252.2 
                                         131.123.1.1
Check option A IP address is assigned by PPP server.

Select the ACCOUNTS tab, select the NEW button.
Server name is KSU.
Phone number is 672-2638. 
Check the appropriate dialing prefix option.
Enter your Kent.edu Userid (lower case) 8 characters only
Enter your Kent.edu Password (lowercase)
Select the OK button.

Select LOCATIONS tab.
Select NEW.
Under HOME, enter your phone number and area code.
Choose the appropriate long-distance dialing option.
Select the OK button.

Select CONNECT to dial KSU.

When PPP report that a connection is established, you may run a TCP/IP 
application such as Eudora, Netscape, or Internet Explorer.
